From the PRODUCT dropdown menu you can find IMport Export products. This is great for giving your customer price files based on their net prices but also for importing new parts into your product table. You would only use this if all the parts in your list are going to be active. If you are importing a list of products from a supplier of which only some will be actively used you would import them into your reference file. Information on that is in another post.

The export part is pretty straight forward so lets focus on the Import part.

Some important Points
1. As always do a backup
2. Read the screen before proceeding, its pretty self explanitory.
3. The file you will be importing needs to be a CSV file and best if you save it into your PBSVB folder on the Server
4. This process should only be done on the server

Start with a spreadsheet from your supplier....
First get rid of any formatting, to do this the easiest way is to copy the entire sheet by highliting the top left corner and Cnrtl C

Now open a new blank sheet and assuming the first column is part numbers, Change the format of the first column to text prior to pasting the data in. Once you have pasted the data focus on the descriptions and make sure you delete all double quotes (replace with two single quotes), delete all commas, & and @ signs. Now focusing on the price columns format these as numbers with 2 decimal points, this should make the $ signs dissapear and then if you have barcodes format this column to number with no decimal points.

So in the screen above you can see peach tells you the order of columns that you should set up in your spreadsheet and in the above you can simply untick the columns you dont have. Save the file as a CSV (4 characters Only) and save in the PBSVB Folder. If you dont have the 19 columns above then untick the ones you dont have and then Tick "File Has only columns that are ticked". If you have parts in the file that are not already in your products file and you want them added then Tick the Add new products box. It's best to add the supplier code, must be exact so that if there are duplicate parts from other suppliers, it wont update those ones.

Now click import details and your away.
